PHCN Decries Lack Of Gas As Lagosians Continue In Darkness

Electricity company, Ikeja Electric has announced the reason why homes across the state have in recent times had poor electricity supply.

In a statement revealed by the company, they explained that a shortage of gas for powering the stations is responsible for the poor electricity generation.

They wrote: "This is due to the fact that there is gas shortage to many Generation stations, which has affected their capability to generate optimally."

The distribution company serving Ikeja and environs further revealed that the drastic drop in power was as a result of the inability of the transmitting companies to generate adequate power.

The statement continued: "This situation has also caused a significant reduction in power transmitted to the Distribution companies including Ikeja Electric; as a result there has been a drastic drop in power supply across our network."

The statement concluded by appealing to residents across the state to exercise patience while electricity is being worked on.

Following the statement, residents of Lagos have taken to social media to complain about poor service delivery and hike in electricity tariffs despite poor allocation of power. Some also queried the recent announcement by the electricity company that it had signed a deal with some areas to provide 24hours supply.
