Nigerians have reacted angrily and in complete disbelief after a 1minute 18seconds video emerged of mangoes being removed from a gutter after being kept there by a mallam to ripen, before being sold.
The video which has since gone viral has seen many online users question the rationale behind such a wicked act.
In the clip, a young mallam is seen being told to bring out the fruits he had stored in the gutter, to which he did to the dismay of all present at the scene. Although the state wasn't mentioned in the clip, it is rumoured to have happened in Lagos state.
A man can be heard at the background complaining that such acts are behind the Government's intention of removing these sellers from the road, as any one who ends up buying such a fruit unknowingly is likely to end up sick, possibly with life threatening infections.
Health officials have also advised against patronizing Street sellers of food items, after another video emerged in 2019 of a beans seller killing insects with the sniper insecticide.
Sniper which is a brand name for a popular insect killer is known to be harmful to humans and is on record to have been used in several occasions in suicidal cases.
