Two fake Police Officers have been arrested and paraded for alleged impersonation and extortion in Lagos State.
This was revealed during the press briefing held today Wednesday, June 27 at the Police Headquarters in Ikeja.
Speaking, the Police CP said "On 20/06/2018 at about 1330 hours there was a public outcry that a group of persons clad in black T-Shirts, black berets with police insignia, were going from door to door extorting money from the public under the guise of security alert.
"The DPO Alakara Division was notified and swiftly mobilized his operatives to the scene and arrested one Jumoke Mutairu ‘f’ age 45 years, of No. 10, Isiba Street, Itire. Also arrested was one Uzoma Johnson ‘m’ age 29 years of No. 15, Avana Street, Off Bayo Oyewole Street, Okota.
"During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and revealed that they have been in the business for about fifteen (15) years now. They also claimed to have been trained for six (6) months by one Chief Johnson O. Oni, the founder, Chosen Ministry Church, situated at No. 24, Association Avenue, Apapa-Oshodi expressway, Ijeshatedo."
Among the exhibit recovered were a black T-shirt, black beret with police insignia, the sum of four thousand, three hundred Naira(N4,300), assorted document/certificates suspected to be fakes.
Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the fleeing founder/pastor believed to be their alter-ego.
