PURPLEBLUE ENTERTAINMENT SOLUTIONS SET TO HOLD DEBUT COPYRIGHT AND MUSIC BUSINESS MASTERCLASS IN LAGOS

Nigeria’s leading entertainment solutions company Purpleblue Entertainment Solutions have announced Saturday, June 30, 2018 as the date for its debut copyright and music business masterclass for music users and music business practitioners in Lagos State.

Making the announcement, the company via an official statement read, ‘The development of digital technology, the internet, digital downloads, MP3, caller-back tunes, streaming, and social media generation have drastically changed the way music is exploited, consumed and experienced. These changes present both a substantial challenge and a great opportunity in the digital economy for those with an interest in this market.’’

It continued, ‘‘Unfortunately, there are a variety of creative works and rights that may be needed, depending on how the music will be used, knowing what needs to be done to avoid copyright infringement or liability is not always easy and straight forward. Making it even more complicated is the fact that the different works or rights are often obtained from different individuals or groups, and it is not always easy to determine where to go to get the necessary rights.’’

‘‘The music business is no doubt a difficult and complex area to understand and navigate, it is also a minefield of misinformation that require you to tread carefully to make the right decision. To help you get through this maze successfully, the Copyright & Music Business Masterclass Series have been designed to provide you with the solutions you will require to make that right decision and we invite everyone who is willing to improve their knowledge in this field.’’ The letter ended.

The masterclass will be held at LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre, Alausa and will dissect topics such as Principles of Copyright & Neighbouring Rights – Cases and Materials, Copyright Licensing in Music Distribution and Reproduction, as well as Language, Formalities and Basic Consideration in Music Licensing, among others.
