The magnificent Luzhniki stadium in Russia came alive as the world cup 2018 came to grand closure.
The 2018 World Cup final saw France take on Croatia, a team which they duly defeated 4 - 2.
The game began in surprising fashion when a Griezman ball into the Croatian box in the 18th minute was headed in by Mandzukic for the first own goal at a World Cup final.
An Ivan Perisic's fierce drive levelled the score in the 28th minute.
Things turned on its head in the 34th minute when Griezmann kept his cool to convert from the penalty spot after an adjudged Croatian handball.
A Paul Pogba shot from outside the box in the 59th minute and a sublime shot from Kylian Mbappe in the 65th gave France a 4 - 1 lead.
There was a worrying moment for France when Lloris terrible attempt at clearing the ball fell kindly from Mandzukic who played it into the net and create a nervy ending.
Despite 66% ball possession and 14 shots, Croatia failed to find a way back and lost the final 4 -2.
With the 4 - 2 scoreline, France became the first team to score 4 goals in a World Cup final since Brazil beat Italy 4 - 1 in 1970.
France's coach Deschamps also became the 3rd person to win the World Cup as both player and coach after Brazil's Mario Zagallo and Germany's Fraiz Beckenbauer.
